Sivota
( located on the southern cost of south Thesprotia)
is a modern picuresque village by the sea. It has taken its name from the famous seabattle
which took place
there in 433 B.C. between people from Corfu and people from
Korinth.
The lush green isles with the crystal clear water and the sandy
beaches seem to the part of the mainland. Seldom has nature
endolled so much beauty to one area.
Few of the beaches you can visit are: Mega Ammos, Mikri
Ammos, Zavia, Pisina, French bay, Bella Vraka. The beach Bella
Vraka is of unique beauty located as it is on a peninsula.
Opposite the village of Sivota there are the isles of Saint
Nikolaos, Mourtemeno, the isles of Pigs (Hironisi)
and Mavro Oros (Black Mount) where a big light house was
established in 1884.

km from Athens.

Getting
There
1. Arrive at Corfu by air, cross to Igoumenitsa by ferry and
then on to Sivota.
2. Take the ferry to Igoumenitsa from Patra or Ancona, Bari,
Brindisi, Otranto.
3. From Athens travel by car through a beautiful
countryside of 450 km following the route Athens, Korinth, Rio
- Antirio, Agrinio, Arta and 12 km before Igoumenitsa turn
left.
4. From Salonica take the route Larissa, Meteora, Metsovo,
Ioannina, Igoumenitsa, Sivota. |
